At Cairnlea Park Primary School, we pride ourselves on the friendliness and cooperation that our students display every day. We support and encourage all students to be their best by implementing our innovative ‘B4U Act’ matrix, which clearly illustrates the school expectations for behaviour. Our four school rules are explicitly taught in fortnightly Values lessons, and awards for outstanding behaviour include certificates and morning tea with the Principal!
Our matrix was formed as part of a whole school approach to discipline and behaviour management, and since its introduction in 2011 school data indicates that positive behaviours have increased significantly and problem solving skills have been enhanced.
The matrix is displayed in all areas of the school, and children are given a copy to take home with them at the start of each year. Staff use the language of the matrix in their conversations with children, and when rules are broken children can clearly see where they have made poor choices.
